Virgin Voyages has unveiled Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle, a Chinese-inspired dining venue aboard the Scarlet Lady. The restaurant launched in November 2024, following the ship’s emergence from dry dock.

Design and Layout

The transition from Razzle Dazzle to Lucky Lotus includes new signage and a more refined aesthetic. The heavy black and white striping has been toned down, with the addition of plush lounge-style seating and comfortable high chairs accommodating solo diners.

The space feels more grown-up than the original Razzle Dazzle dinner service. The lighting is warmer, the colour palette is richer, and the overall vibe leans more towards an upscale city restaurant than a cruise ship venue.

My Review

Service was notably prompt — faster than most other restaurants on board.

The standout dish was the stir-fried vegetable rice noodles. Robust flavouring, fresh components, and a dish that felt genuinely well-executed. I’d order it again without hesitation.

The ribeye was tender and well-cooked, but the black peppercorn sauce lacked the intensity I was hoping for. It needed more bite. The vegetable gyoza, however, were excellent — the truffle-infused dipping sauce elevated what could have been a standard starter into something memorable.

The five spice pork chop suffered from an overly sweet batter that overpowered the spice blend underneath. It wasn’t bad, but it missed the mark on balance.

As for dessert, the mango pudding was disappointing. The initial layer of fresh mango looked promising, but underneath was an underseasoned mousse that didn’t deliver on flavour. The egg tarts were a safer bet.

The honey sriracha ribs were a strong starter — sticky, well-glazed, and properly seasoned. The crispy walnut prawns were decent but unremarkable.

Razzle Dazzle Breakfast Continues

Worth noting: while the dinner service has changed to Lucky Lotus, Razzle Dazzle breakfast continues in the same venue during morning hours. The brunch menu remains unchanged.

Fleet Availability

Lucky Lotus currently operates exclusively on Scarlet Lady. Other Virgin Voyages vessels — Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady — retain the original Razzle Dazzle restaurant for both breakfast and dinner.

Final Thoughts

The venue shows potential but remains in its early stages. Staff acknowledged the restaurant is finding its footing, and I’d expect the menu to be refined over the coming months. The best dishes (noodles, gyoza, ribs) are genuinely good. The weaker ones (pork chop, mango pudding) suggest the kitchen is still calibrating.

If you’re sailing on Scarlet Lady, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Just manage expectations — this is a new restaurant learning what works.
